Hulduhlíð Nursing Home, Eskifjörður

The project involves the design of a new nursing home in Eskifjörður, a total of 1.500 m². The architectural design is based on Icelandic heritage but with modern appearance. The design emphasizes on cosy, environmentally friendly and flexible environment, both indoors and outdoors, but the goal is to design rooms that are resembling/similar to typical homes. The building is designed in 3D with BIM methodology and is BREEAM certified.

VSO is responsible for:

• Structural design.
• HVAC systems design.
• Electrical systems and lighting design.
• Acoustics design.
• Design that meets the BREEAM standard and consulting.

Project period: 2010-2013.

Client: Fjarðarbyggð municipality.
