Mýrdalur municipality master plan

VSO worked in collaboration with Mýrdalur municipality on the making of a new master plan. Emphasis was put on upgrading the format and data with new planning laws as a guideline and shaping the policy on the development of tourist industry and the location of ring road around the municipality. The foundation of organizational work was therefore on the comparison of choices for location, where various views were taken into consideration, such as the environment, traffic safety, road conditions and lang usage. A large discussion on the topic of the comparison and the result was created, which in the end was confirmed by the minister of the environment. Part of VSO’s project was to justify that all procedures and decisions made by the municipality were in accordance with the laws, and founded on factual views.
